OSANA’s Transition from President Nick Farinacci to President Kim Riviello

The Ohio State Association of Nurse Anesthetists (OSANA) continues its mission to advance nurse anesthesiology through excellence in education, advocacy, knowledge, and member empowerment. As the association welcomes a new president, we reflect with gratitude on the leadership of outgoing President Nicholas Farinacci, DNP, CRNA and look forward with anticipation to the vision of incoming President Kim Riviello, DNP, MBA, CRNA.

When reflecting on his favorite memory as OSANA President, Nick points to the people:

“Getting the opportunity to meet amazing providers throughout the state.”

His time in office was marked by relationship-building and the pursuit of advancing the profession through meaningful connections. Although he is completing his term, his work is not done.

I’m back in the saddle. I reran for president because there are some objectives I still want to accomplish.”

His parting advice to the new President is grounded in encouragement and confidence:

“Sometimes it will feel like 47 things are flying at you at once. Don’t worry. You have a strong board and the resilience to make your term a huge success!”

Nick’s leadership reflects OSANA’s values of fostering a dynamic state association and serving as The Voice of Nurse Anesthesiology for the state of Ohio

A Vision for Growth: Goals from Kim Riviello

Kim steps into her presidency with enthusiasm and a clear focus on growth.

“I am looking forward to getting to know more CRNAs throughout Ohio as well as nurses and students who are seeking future roles as CRNAs.”

Kim’s goals and plans for the next year:

“This next year I hope to further extend the reach of OSANA politically as well as educationally. Nick wanted to touch CRNAs all over the world so I will help further his dream through getting Ohio CRNAs involved with educating abroad as well as extending our reach within our own state to include Ohio High Schools.

I want Ohio CRNAs to become more knowledgeable about the business of anesthesia so they can understand their true value. I would like to see our educational programs in Ohio include the business of anesthesia within their curriculum. It is hard to engage members into defending their profession when they do not understand their economic value. I have SRNAs and CRNAs routinely state they think this is needed.”

Kim’s fondest OSANA memories reflect her belief in the power of community:

“My fondest memories of OSANA are the Spring meetings. It does my heart good to see so many CRNAs come together from around the state to increase their knowledge and expand their friendships within our profession. I am extremely proud and honored not only to be associated with all of these CRNAs, but also to serve as their OSANA President over the next year.

With the continued leadership of its Board and the active involvement of members across the state, OSANA will remain a dynamic and inclusive voice for nurse anesthesiology in Ohio.
